What Remains
2025
Ink & Watercolor on Paper
4 x 7 in
These dried flowers felt like symbols of things that change, age, and stay with us in different forms. I placed them inside an ornate frame and layered them over a gentle wash of color to create space where memory and time overlap. The place is about holding into something fragile without forcing it to stay the same. It's a reminder that beauty shifts, but it doesn't disappear.

Current of Feathers
2025
Watercolor/ Mixed Media
40x26in
This mixed media piece captures the fluidity of movement and the harmony between nature and imagination, drawing inspiration from the rich cultural landscape of Vietnam. Watercolor washes create an abstract yet organic body of water, while intricately detailed feathers morph into canoes, each guided by miniature figures. These feather-boats symbolize both fragility and freedom, representing personal journeys, resilience, and the balance between tradition and transformation.
The imagery is rooted in memories of Vietnam’s rivers, which have long been a source of life and reflection, deeply intertwined with Vietnamese culture. The river symbolizes both a physical and spiritual passage, a connection to ancestry, and the ongoing flow of life. Vietnamese culture, with its strong ties to nature, agricultural roots, and spiritual beliefs, serves as the backdrop for this piece, blending nostalgia with a broader sense of cultural identity.
Layered textures, vibrant colors, and surreal forms invite viewers into a dreamlike world that floats between memory and fantasy, where exploration becomes both literal and metaphorical. This work honors the resilience of those who navigate both physical and emotional waters, navigating through challenges while remaining anchored in culture and heritage. The piece ultimately celebrates the strength found in the act of moving forward, no matter how delicate the journey may seem.

Stillness on the Street
2025
Watercolor on Paper
8.5 x 11 in
I created this watercolor painting by focusing on the simple beauty of an ordinary house. The architecture, the trees, and the quiet front yard work together to form a peaceful moment. I wanted to capture that sense of stillness and the feeling of walking past a familiar home on a calm day. The textures and muted colors help convey that gentle, lived-in atmosphere.

Winter Trees
2025
Watercolor on Paper
8.5 x 11 in
This piece captures a quiet moment outdoors, where bare trees stretch into the sky and the soft colors of winter settle into the landscape. I was drawn to the way the branches create a natural pattern and how the railing cuts across the scene, grounding the space. The painting focuses on stillness and the beauty found in simple, everyday views that we often overlook.

Everyday Studies
2025
Charcoal on Paper
4 x 7 in each
This series explores everyday objects through careful observation and color study. Each item is simple on its own, but when grouped together, they highlight the variety of shapes, textures, and surfaces we encounter day to day. I approached each one like a small still life, paying close attention to light, reflection, and form. The collection becomes a playful study of the ordinary.
