Sweet Domestic Rituals
2025
Charcoal on Paper
8.5 x 11 in
In this drawing, I focused on the small objects that shape everyday routines like a rolling pin, a checkered towel, fruits, vases, and perfume. These items often go unnoticed, yet they hold so much memory and comfort. By arranging them carefully and working in soft graphite, I wanted to slow down that ordinary moment and give it more weight. The bottle labeled "Sweet" becomes a quiet reminder of how home can be built from simple, familiar things, and how these small rituals stay with us.

Ingredients of my Childhood
2025
Charcoal on Paper
8.5 x 11 in
This still life brings together objects that feel deeply tied to my cultural upbringing. The rice cooker, sumi ink, ballet flat, house shoe, mandarins, and persimmons are small but important parts of my daily life growing up. By drawing them, I'm acknowledging how these everyday items quietly shaped my sense of identity. They remind me of routines, family habits, and the mis of cultures I moved through. This piece is my way of honoring the things that held meaning even when I didn't realize it at the time.

Two Ways of Seeing Myself
2025
Pencil on Paper
8 x 12 in
This diptych explores how I see myself through two different lenses; the external world and my internal one. The left drawing captures a more realistic moment where I am sitting in my environment and surrounded by my everyday routine. The right drawing shifts inward, showing a stylized version of myself shaped by patterns, emotions, and parts of my identity that aren't always visible.

A Toast to Nature
2025
Watercolor/ Color Pencils/ Chalk pastels
24x18in
This colored pencil still life celebrates the textures and vibrancy of everyday objects. I arranged metal pitchers, seasonal fruits, and a wine bottle against a richly draped green fabric to explore color harmony, composition, and surface detail. Each item was chosen for its unique texture—smooth apple skin, prickly gourd, and hammered
metal—inviting closer inspection. The layered background and bold hues create
depth and visual rhythm, grounding the scene while keeping it dynamic. Through this piece, I aimed to capture the beauty of overlooked objects and evoke a sense of warmth and abundance found in the ordinary.

Quiet Companions
2025
Charcoal/ Chalk Pastel
24x18in
This piece captures a quiet moment through a charcoal still life of familiar, comforting objects. The stuffed panda, paired with a jar of honey and soft forms, symbolizes emotional warmth and the quiet resilience found in everyday items. I used charcoal to explore depth, texture, and contrast, aiming to convey a sense of calm and memory. The green backdrop introduces a subtle sense of vitality, contrasting with the monochrome objects and enhancing the composition’s mood. This drawing reflects on
how seemingly simple objects can carry emotional weight and tell stories of care,
nostalgia, and personal history.
