BIG IDEA REFLECTION
My big idea centers on interconnection and identity. I explore how who we are is shaped by the ties we hold to people, memories, and the spaces we move through. My work reflects how identity isn’t a single story but a collection of fragments, layered and reassembled through time and experience. Through soft forms, symbolic objects, and moments of contrast, I express how connection can be both comforting and complicated, fragile and resilient. I want my art to feel like a reflection of how we exist together are always changing, yet deeply linked.
Wen Liu connects to my work through her exploration of fragmented memory and belonging. Her use of layered materials and surfaces inspires me to see how pieces of identity can be rebuilt and reimagined. Like Liu, I use material and form to express what can’t always be spoken and how identity holds both the visible and the hidden, and how connection becomes the thread that ties them together.
